The focus of 2008 is scoping of the Board's work, and the focus of 2009 will be the development of the curriculum.

The Board will examine current curriculums from across Australia and samples from other high-performing countries to contribute to its work.

The Board seeks input from teachers and school administrators; partners from the training sector, industry and universities; parents, students, young people and the wider community – directly, and through a range of expert panels, committees and working groups.

The national forum on 27 June 2008 was the first step and launched a development paper for discussion. The Board has progressed its task with the release of The Shape of the National Curriculum: A Proposal for Discussion, initial advice papers, and most recently framing papers.

The National Curriculum Board aims to utilise e-technologies through this website and continue with face-to-face opportunites to maximise the number of people who can engage in the development of national curriculum.
